Savannah Kent, a 16 year old Floridian, was born in Buffalo, New York, moving to Florida when she was four. Since her mother is a music teacher and her father is a ragtime piano player, it became inevitable that music would play an important role in her life. She began "performing" when she was only 18 months old, standing on the pew at church, belting out the lyrics to ‘Little Mermaid' songs during the quieter portions of the service. Needless to say, these particular performances, while evoking many smiles, and a few chuckles, did not garner even a sitting ovation.

A Natural Performer

She began her actual performance career at the age of twelve, at a local mall as the main entertainment for the shoppers. These performances, three times per week for up to an hour per show, taught her how to interact with a crowd, overcome stage fright, and build her confidence and stage presence. She has also performed at various festivals around Florida, doing 30 to 60 minute sets at Fine Arts for Ocala and at Avon Park's Florida Flywheeler's events. She has entertained at different elementary schools for ‘Very Special Arts in Education' and the Fessenden Music and Arts Festival. She has been in the ROTC program for her first two years in high school, which, while teaching her leadership abilities, has provided her with several performance opportunities. These have been at football, baseball, and soccer high school games, as well as the chance to open the July 4th celebrations at Silver Springs in Ocala.

Savannah's Family

She has two older brothers who are very supportive of her music career, since both of them have a musical background, one as an actor in several musicals and the other as a percussionist. Her oldest brother is a digital artist, working in metro Washington D.C., and the other is a retail store manager in Central Florida.

Musical Influences

Savannah was raised on the music of John Denver, Paul Simon, and Barbra Streisand, and it was only in the last couple of years she discovered her true love is country music. All her performances in the last two years have been strictly country, as she sings everything from Faith Hill's music to Patsy Cline's.

Recording and Looking Toward the Future

She first had an opportunity to record when a song she wrote in seventh grade won "best in class" in a state-wide music video contest. That song was recorded at a local studio the next year, and she caught the music bug in a big way. She has now gotten the opportunity to record several country songs, and her hope is that this opens the door to what she really wants to do: perform for audiences.
